Black & Beech

Black & Beech was founded in 2016, by Cardiff-based Stacey Grant-Canham, with a mission to create the ultimate destination for feminist fashion and lifestyle pieces – made with care, purpose and plenty of punch. The brand is proud of its integrity – every beautiful design is made to last. You won’t find a smidge of fast fashion in sight, as the brand honours the craft of women’s work, while also committing to the greater good. Since the brand’s inception, they’ve donated an impressive £25,000 to women-led charities – cue a big hurrah from us.

The AW25 collection takes inspiration from traditional knitwear and heritage craft, reimagined through a feminist lens, using natural fibres and sustainable production methods. We’re totally enamoured with their brightly coloured Fairisle range – proof there truly is no pearl without grit.

Ambela

Whether you’re one of Carys Whittaker’s 2.5 million Insta followers, or just a denim devotee, you need Ambela on your radar. After years of struggling to find jeans that actually fit, Carys turned to her community for answers – and 26,000 women later (sizes 6–28, inseams 26–34), Ambela was born.

The range nails it: straight and mom style jeans, plus shorts, in a variety of different washes, from sizes 6-26, and a more inclusive leg length – extra short, short, regular and tall. The brand’s signature denim is designed to move with you – not against you – and features a clever back buckle for a perfect fit. Goodbye waist gaps, hello dream denim.

Corgi

Each beautiful Corgi knit has been lovingly crafted here in Wales by a team of dedicated artisans since 1892, owned since inception by the same Jones family, producing luxurious hand-framed garments and hand-finished socks in everything from lightweight cotton to pure cashmere. Blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, the brand’s signature touches now extend to personalised pieces – luxury with a truly personal twist.

Toast

Born in Wales in 1997, Toast started life inspired by our beautiful Welsh landscapes, focusing on cosy nightwear and loungewear made for misty mornings and log fires. Fast forward to today and the collection’s grown up (hello, clothing, homeware and accessories) but the brand’s approach remains the same. Staying true to their roots, team Toast focuses on creating ‘simple, modern and functional pieces intended to last for years to come’.

Weekend Offender

If your partner, son, brother, father, or other favourite male human fancies himself as a bit of a style icon, chances are he’s heard of Weekend Offender. But did he know it’s a Welsh brand? Dreamt up by Sam Jones and Rhydian Powell, it started with humble beginnings and big ambitions – and now, 20 years on, musicians like Liam Gallagher, Peter Doherty and Jake Bugg have all been spotted in the garms, not to mention Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Aaron Ramsey. Fame aside, the founders have stayed true to their roots, still flying the Welsh flag through collabs with homegrown heroes like UFC fighter Oban Elliott.

Carrie Elspeth

Carrie Elspeth began life in a tiny studio in South Wales, back in 1999 where Carrie (still the brand’s creative director) channelled her love of colour into handcrafted jewellery. Fast forward a few sparkly decades and her vision’s resulted in awards including Welsh Woman of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Creative Business of the Year at the Vale Business Awards in South Wales. The brand’s Sentiments bracelets are gifting gold – with names like ‘Just because’, ‘Positive vibes’, ‘One in a million’, they are catnip for thoughtful types. And yes please and thank you – we’d love one.

Mabli

Another beautiful knitwear pick, Mabli is a family-run fashion brand based in Cardiff, specialising in natural knits for children. Vintage aesthetics inspire the pieces, and the signature Mabli look remains to be an interpretation of traditional Welsh tapestry blankets. Timeless and gorgeous. And it’s not just for kids. The grown-up collection is growing fast, with leggings, jumpers, and even cosy woollen bonnets – perfect for windy walks. As for the kiddie rompers? Absolutely delicious – and yes, we’re still campaigning for adult sizes.

Hiut Denim Co

Hiut Denim Co. does one thing… jeans – and does it exceptionally well. In beautiful Cardigan, skilled makers craft each pair from what they describe as “the finest denim in the world”, cut with an expert eye and sewn by the Grand Masters of denim. Some of the team have clocked over 40,000 hours behind a sewing machine, once part of Britain’s biggest jean factory, before Hiut swooped in to bring demin-making back home. The brand mission? Make jeans that last and spread the gospel that raw denim is best left unwashed, encouraging customers to join the No Wash Club (yep, no washing for six months) – to save enough clean drinking water for one person for 793 days. Denim with purpose – and serious cool points.

Clogau

Back in 1989, William Roberts stumbled across an abandoned gold mine in the mountains of Snowdonia – Clogau St David’s mine in Bontddu – and took a gamble that glittered. Using the mine’s precious gold to craft jewellery of the highest quality, he made just five pieces to sell to a handful of small local gift shops. Even now, every piece of Clogau jewellery contains a touch of that rare Welsh gold.

And of course there’s the royal connection too. When the Queen Mother chose a wedding ring made of Clogau gold in 1923, it began a tradition later followed by the Queen, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne and Diana, Princess of Wales, whose rings were all fashioned from the same Welsh gold nugget. Today you don’t need a title to wear it: customers of Clogau can get their hands on a piece of royal-worthy jewellery with a much more affordable price tag, through a collection of rings, earrings, necklaces, watches, and even bespoke jewellery.

BEAUTY

Spectrum Collections

Fabulous and fiercely Welsh, the Spectrum Collections sisters are a force to be reckoned with. Sophie and Hannah started the brand from a garage in Barry back in 2014, and have since taken it from strength to strength – creating a globally recognised name loved by beauty fans everywhere. Their products are vegan, cruelty-free, kind to the planet, and *thud* actually affordable.

Spectrum Collections products are stocked in major retailers and boast collaborations with beauty industry giant Katie Jane Hughes, plus a string of sell-out collections with Disney, including Beauty and The Beast, Cinderella, Minnie Mouse and Winnie The Pooh.

Goodwash

Inspired by old Welsh natural remedies, Goodwash‘s potions have scooped up numerous awards. Only the finest sustainable ingredients make the cut – from Tyddewi seaweed and Halen Môn to foraged gorse in Penmachno. Then there’s the haircare, which is developed with a blend of natural remedies to keep your locks glossy and healthy. Be sure to try the Sebon Dwylo luxury hand soap in your posh, guest-facing bathroom – a heavenly mix of rose geranium, lavender and patchouli that smells as good as it sounds.

Last but not least, furry friends are not forgotten. The founders’ pets take their testing duties very seriously, and the natural pet range gets the paw of approval – even from the most sensitive of pooches.

We bet you’ve spotted Dr Organic on the shelves of Holland & Barrett while grabbing your hair gummies or chocolate-covered Brazil nuts, but did you know that this clean, PETA approved, B Corp-certified, organic, vegan brand is based right here in Swansea? From rose face serums and tea tree blemish sticks to natural deodorants, you’ll find a whole range of hardworking heros to explore. The Mum & Baby range is a fan favourite thanks to its gentle, plant-powered ingredients, while the cult manuka honey collection is loved by those with sensitive skin.

Tanya Whitebits

Shoned Owen is the founder and CEO of Tanya Whitebits which is – we’re calling it – officially the most brilliant self-tanning brand name on the planet. Once upon a time, Shoned was a sunbed user, until the dangers of skin cancer and premature skin ageing converted her to create her own self-tanning products in 2013. These days, she runs the ultimate glow-up family business alongside her twin daughters, Beca and Mia.
